Margaret Pellegrini Dead: Flowerpot Munchkin From 'Wizard Of Oz' Dies At 89

One Of The Last Remaning Munchkins From 'Wizard Of Oz' Dies

Margaret Pellegrini, who played the flowerpot Munchkin in the 1939 classic "The Wizard of Oz," has died at the age of 89.

Pellegrini suffered a stroke on Monday, and died at her home in Phoenix, her spokesman Ted Bulthaup told CNN.

The actress stood 3 feet 4 inches, and was only 16 years old when she played multiple "Munchkin" roles in the classic film, notes TMZ. She was one of three surviving Munchkins, leaving only 93-year-old Jerry Maren, and 95-year-old Ruth Duccini still standing.

"It's wonderful to know that I had a part of it, that I was in it," she told the news station, adding that she appreciated how the movie influenced the public's perception of little people. "It showed that we were not only little, but we could do what big people did," she explained.
