According to Deadline.com, the former "Grey's Anatomy" star is eyeing a return to primetime more than three years after leaving her role as Dr. Isobel Stevens on the ABC hit medical drama.

The online magazine speculates that the mom of two will be returning to the small screen as the lead of a new CIA drama written by Alexi Hawley, the supervising producer of Fox's "The Following."

Heigl hasn't made a TV appearance since leaving "Grey's Anatomy" in 2010. At the time, she said she was saying goodbye to the popular show to focus on her movie career and on being a mom.

Since her exit, the 34-year-old beauty has expressed regret at her decision.

"Oh yeah, sometimes, yeah. You miss it. I miss my friends," she told Barbara Walters last year when asked if she was sorry to have left the show. "It was a great work environment… and it becomes a family. I spent six years together with these people every day… you grow up together, in a way."
