Oprah's Movie Makeover: How She Transformed Into 95-Year-Old Gloria Gaines For 'Lee Daniels' The Butler' (VIDEO)

WATCH: Oprah's Incredible Movie Makeover: Aging 36 Years In 5 Hours

In "Lee Daniels' The Butler," Oprah plays the wife of the title character during a time period that takes place over the course of three decades. By the end of the film, Oprah's character, Gloria Gaines, is 95 years old -- 36 years older than Oprah is now. But, thanks to the magic of makeup and the talent of a superstar design team, Oprah was expertly transformed into the elderly leading lady.

In this behind-the-scenes video from "Lee Daniels' The Butler," Oprah invites cameras to capture her incredible transformation into 95-year-old Gloria Gaines. "I wish this was like 'Benjamin Button,' where you were going backwards," Oprah jokes before settling into the makeup chair.

Academy Award-winning makeup artist Matthew Mungle, known for his work on movies like "Albert Nobbs" and "Edward Scissorhands," is one of the masterminds behind the metamorphosis. First the team makes a mold of Oprah's face. Using that, they then create a silicone skin that is glued on to add jowls and wrinkles. Next, veteran wig maker Victoria Wood puts on Oprah's wig -- bald spots included -- and the team adds age-enhancing details like contact lenses that give Oprah's eyes a cataract effect. After five hours, the look is complete.

Watch the transformation take place in the video above and catch "Lee Daniels' The Butler" when it opens in theaters nationwide on Friday, August 16.
