Shakira Sues Ex For Allegedly Taking Millions Without Her Consent

Oh, how the tables have turned...

Shakira’s legal troubles may be over but it’s her ex-boyfriend Antonio de la Rúa who is in the hot seat now after the Colombian singer filed a lawsuit accusing her former flame of taking almost $6.7 million without her consent, according to documents recently acquired by EFE.

Last September De La Rúa, son of former Argentine President Fernando de la Rúa, sued the “Hips Don’t Lie” star in New York asking for $250 million in compensation for the years he helped manage her career. It was the Argentine’s first of three lawsuits against the 36-year-old songstress, all of which have now been dismissed.

On Tuesday, however, EFE discovered that Shaki filed a lawsuit in the Bahamas back in October 2012 asking her ex to return the million dollar sum. The former “The Voice” coach alleges that the Argentine awarded himself a $2 million bonus, made use of another $958,476, and charged $363,910 on one of her credit cards without her permission.

Last month, HuffPost Voces reported Shakira’s new claims against her former beau and found that the singer would also ask De La Rúa to pay for legal expenses incurred from his lawsuits and all interest on the money he took.

Two of the singer’s companies, Carpe Diem and Light Productions, are also part of the Caribbean lawsuit and ask that De La Rúa return another $500,000 he put towards a real estate project in Bonds Cay, Bahamas. A project Shakira was not made partner in.

De La Rúa and the Colombian singer were together for over eleven years before the couple called it quits in 2010. Shakira is currently with Spanish soccer beau Gerard Piqué, with whom she welcomed her first child in January.
