Latroy Hawkins Hit In Groin By Jerry Hairston Jr. Comebacker Against Dodgers (VIDEO)

WATCH: Mets Pitcher Gets Hit Where It Hurts

When Latroy Hawkins took the mound to face the Dodgers on Wednesday, the New York Mets closer probably didn't expect his night to end like this.

The veteran pitcher limped off the field shortly after taking a one-hop comebacker to the groin from Jerry Hairston Jr. late in the game. Hawkins never wears a protective cup, per the New York Daily News.

“When I lifted my leg, I could feel my [nuts] in my throat, but I thought I could get through it," the pitcher told the New York Post. "I feel like I got kicked by a mule, and it hurts.”

Moments after the hit, Andre Ethier smashed a two-run homer off Hawkins to send the game into extra innings. The Dodgers would go on to win 5-4.
