NBC's Hillary Clinton Miniseries Might Never Get Made

The Hillary Clinton miniseries causing so much drama for NBC might not even happen. In a statement, NBC Entertainment president Robert Greenblatt said the project hasn't been ordered to production -- and might never get there.

"The Hillary Clinton movie has not been ordered to production, only a script is being written at this time. It is 'in development,' the first stage of any television series or movie, many of which never go to production. Speculation, demands, and declarations pertaining to something that isn’t created or produced yet seem premature," Greenblatt said in a statement, according to Deadline.

Since NBC announced the project starring Diane Lane, the miniseries has made headlines. First the RNC threatened to boycott NBC News for the 2016 debates if the miniseries went through as planned -- CNN was also involved with the boycott since the news network is planning a documentary about the former first lady and secretary of state -- then, the RNC did an official vote to ban the networks. Fox was in early talks to produce the project, but the deal never happened.

NBC announced the project to reporters at the Television Critics Association press tour. The four-hour miniseries titled "Hillary," has Courtney Hunt attached as writer and direct. The proposed series will "recount Clinton's life as a wife, mother, politician and cabinet member from 1998 to the present," NBC said. The script starts with Clinton living with Bill Clinton in the White House during his second term.
