Mitch McConnell Slams 'Dishonest' Matt Bevin Claim About MIT (VIDEO)

McConnell Slams GOP Rival For Being 'Dishonest'

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) is slamming his GOP rival Matt Bevin in a new ad, citing a report that says Bevin was "dishonest" about attending the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

The ad cites a March 2013 report from The Hill that said MIT officials disputed claims Bevin made on his LinkedIn profile about graduating from the school.

In the headline section of his LinkedIn page, Bevin listed his education as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Further down his page, Bevin listed the Massachusetts Institute of Technology at the top of his educational profile. Below that he stated he was a 2008 graduate of the Entrepreneurial Master’s Program at the MIT Endicott campus. He described it as a “renowned executive education program sponsored by the MIT Enterprise Inc. Magazine and the Entrepreneurs Organization.”

The presentation of the information was misleading because it suggested he graduated from an MIT-affiliated program, but MIT officials say it has no connection to the school.

Bevin released the following statement on the ad:

He refused to lead on the issue of amnesty, and currently, he refuses to stand up and defund Obamacare. But, with his latest attack ad, the only thing Mitch McConnell seems to be accomplishing these days is taking the childishness of campaign name-calling to a whole new level. Just when you think the lies can’t get any more ridiculous, Mitch McConnell proves that he’ll stoop to any level to hang on to his job.

This isn't the first time McConnell and Bevin have traded barbs. Earlier this month, Bevin slammed McConnell over Obamacare, aligning himself with tea party lawmakers like Sens. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), Mike Lee (R-Utah), and Rand Paul (R-Ky.).
