Suspected Robbers Posed As Mormon Missionaries: Police

Crooks Pose As Mormons, Rob Man At Gunpoint: Cops

Police in Las Vegas are searching for two robbery suspects that they say posed as Mormon missionaries to gain entrance to a man's house, then allegedly took cash and valuables from him at gunpoint.

In surveillance video released Tuesday, two men can be seen approaching and entering a gate to the victim's home wearing the long-sleeved white shirts, and black ties, shoes and pants typically worn by Mormon missionaries.

According to police, the men dressed as missionaries spoke to the victim about religion for about five minutes, then began punching him, pulled a gun and demanded he hand over property.

The robbery took place at about 6:30 a.m. on June 27, KNTV reported. Police released the video hoping the public will aid their search for the men.

One suspect was described as a white man, 22 to 28 years old, 5'7" to 5'8" and 130-145 pounds, and was armed with a handgun. The other suspect was described as a black man, 22 to 28 years old, 5'10" to 6'1" and 190-210 pounds.

Police urge anyone with information on the suspects to contact Las Vegas police at 702-828-3591 or Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.

"It's just so sad that people would take something that's normally good and positive and productive and make it something where we have to be worried and scared," Daniel Schultz, who was a Mormon missionary 20 years ago, told KVVU.
