Teen Hunted Kittens With Bow And Arrow, Posted Photos Of Dead Cats To Facebook: Police

'Bored' Teen Shot Kittens, Posted Photos: Police

Investigators said he was "bored out of his mind."

An Indiana teen may face felony animal cruelty charges for allegedly hunting kittens in an alley near his East Chicago home earlier this month. Police say that the 17-year-old boy, whose name is being withheld, shot and killed three animals with a bow and arrow, then posted photos of himself "playing with the dead kittens" to Facebook.

“He did confess. He said he was bored out of his mind the week before school started and decided to hunt some kittens,” Lake County Indiana investigator Michelle Dvorscak told CBS Chicago.

Facebook removed the graphic photos after receiving numerous complaints. The photos allegedly showed two cats skewered on an arrow and another that had been "shot through the head," according to Dvorscak.

In an interview with ABC News, Dvorscak called the photos "disturbing and psychotic,” and said that she'd “never encountered someone so proud of the fact that they decided to post it on their Facebook page.”

Police responded after Lake County Animal Adoption and Control Center got an anonymous tip from someone complaining about the gruesome photos, CBS Chicago reports.

"They were horrible and horrific... I don’t know how somebody could do that to a poor innocent kitten,” Jennelle Melendy, who works at the animal shelter, told the station.

The teen has been charged with killing a domestic animal and torturing or mutilating a domestic animal, according to NBC Chicago.
