Subway Garlic Bread To Hit Stores September 1 As New Limited-Time Offering

Subway Announces New Offering

For a limited time starting September 1, Subway patrons who like to customize their Footlongs will have another bread option: Garlic bread.

Although the new bread is only around for a short time, Subway director of research and development Tricia Hetherington tells USA that it could be added to the permanent menu if it proves popular. Subway already offers five different breads at its roughly 26,000 U.S. locations.

Subway has been innovating up a storm lately. Recently, we learned that the sandwich chain is testing an offering called the "Crunchy Chicken Enchilada Melt," which is stuffed with Fritos.

Perhaps it's because Subway still lags behind fast food giant McDonald's; the golden arches' sales were more than Subway, Wendy's, Burger King and Chick-Fil-A combined in 2012.
