Anthony Weiner Paying Actors, Interns To Pose As Campaign Supporters: Report

Is Anthony Weiner desperate enough to hire actors to play supporters at campaign events? According to a New York Post report, yes.

The embattled mayoral candidate, who has been stuck in a distant fourth place following revelations he continued to sext after he resigned from Congress in 2011, is reportedly employing actors from Crowds on Demand to pose as normal New Yorkers.

The charade costs $15 per hour for each actor.

The story follows a similar exclusive from The Daily News alleging Weiner features campaign interns to star in television ads, also purporting to be regular supporters.

Weiner's spokeswoman, Barbara Morgan, has denied using actors and says the campaign is unaware of the services provided by Crowds on Demand.

"We’ve never heard of this company and certainly never used them," Morgan said to the Post. "We are proud we’ve always had the biggest and most fired-up crowds. That’s enthusiasm the other campaigns just can’t buy.”
