Jerry Rice Won't Say He's The Best Wide Receiver In NFL History But He'll Explain Why He Might Be

Jerry Rice says he won't proclaim himself to be the greatest wide receiver in NFL history. Of course, he won't say that anyone was better.

As the NFL's all-time leader in receptions, receiving yards, receiving touchdowns, career touchdowns, career yards from scrimmage, career Super Bowl receiving yards, career Super Bowl touchdowns and career Super Bowl receptions, Rice is widely considered the greatest wide receiver to grace the NFL and by some to be the game's greatest player regardless of position.

All of those records didn't stop Randy Moss from naming himself the greatest wideout ahead of Super Bowl XLVII.

"I don't really live on numbers. I really live on impact and what you're able to do out on the field," Rice said in January 2013, via ESPN. "I really think I'm the greatest receiver to ever play this game."

Rice once again touched on the G.O.A.T. debate when he called in to HuffPost Live this week.

"Well, you would never hear me say that I was the best receiver to ever play the game," Rice told Ahmed Shihab-Eldin of HuffPost Live. "I had the opportunity to play a game that I really loved and it was so exciting and I worked so hard. And I'll just let my fans decide if I'm the best receiver."

After sounding quite confident that he would have more than enough support behind him in any best-ever debate, Rice weighed in on Moss and the differences between them.

"I think what he brought to the game was that he was able to really stretch the field. He could have been one of those guys," Rice said. "He probably was the best gifted receiver in the game. With his height, speed, his jumping ability, he could completely just blow by you. But I think I made up that ground with a lot of determination and just hard work and just putting the time in every day."
