'Power Rangers' Turns 20

Happy 20th Birthday, 'Power Rangers'!

It's morphin' time! Twenty years ago today, on August 28, 1993, "Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers" premiered.

The kids show featured five teens (later six when the Green/White Ranger was added) being called upon to protect the world from Rita Repulsa. It originally starred Austin St. John as Jason Lee Scott, Thuy Trang as Trini Kwan, Amy Jo Johnson as Kimberly Hart, David Yost as Billy Cranston, Walter Emanuel Jones as Zack Taylor and Jason David Frank as Tommy Oliver.

When they transformed into the Power Rangers, the teens got a variety of weapons, including giant machines called Zords.

The Power Rangers fought a variety of monsters, some of them voiced by some of today's hottest TV stars, including "Breaking Bad" leading man Bryan Cranston. His last name was also used to name the Blue Ranger.

The success of "Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers" on TV and the subsequent merchandise paved the way for the feature film starring some of the show's original cast.
