Sandpaper is one of those things almost everyone has in their house, although it's probably stored away to be forgotten about. But you know, there is a clever little way to repurpose those sheets that will make them come in handy on a regular basis. Redditor jack_240 recommends using sandpaper to open stubborn jars.
We never realized that the paper would provide just enough traction you need to end the constant wrestling battle you have with lids. If you don't happen to have sandpaper around, user entreson suggested using dish gloves. We've also heard duct tape and tennis balls work well, too.
