'So You Think You Can Dance' Crowns Season 10 Winners

A fantastic season of dance finished with the crowning of the "So You Think You Can Dance" Season 10 winners. The broadcast was abruptly -- and very awkwardly -- interrupted to accommodate President Obama's speech, so the reveal didn't happen until deeper into the 10 o'clock hour. But those who stuck around were rewarded with encore presentations of some of the season's most emotional performances.

And they got to see who won, of course. "America’s favorite male dancer is ... Fik-Shun," Cat Deeley announced. Animator Du-Shaunt "Fik-Shun" Stegall edged out tapper Aaron Turner for the top spot among guys. Cat also announced that the top vote-getter among all four finalists was a girl. That meant that America's Favorite Dancer was either jazz dancer Amy Yakima or contemporary dancer Jasmine Harper.

In the end, Amy won, meaning she got to reunite with Fik-Shun, her partner throughout the early part of the season, in the winners circle. Ironically, Aaron and Jasmine had also been paired together during the early weeks, meaning that both couples achieved Final Four status.

Digital Spy's Jennifer Still was both happy and surprised by the results. "Happy for [Fik-Shun], of course, but surprised nonetheless," she admitted. "When it comes to the girls, Amy wins the most votes - and in fact she received the most votes overall in the finale. Again, I'm extremely happy for her - she's an incredibly strong and skilled dancer.”

As Hollywood Life's Andy Swift pointed out, the reveal of the winners wasn't the only big news the finale had for fans. Nigel Lythgoe announced early on that Fox had renewed "So You Think You Can Dance" for an 11th season. "That means we can look forward to (at least) one more year of incredible dances, unforgettable personalities, and as we all experienced tonight, gut-wrenching eliminations," he wrote. "It’s hard to believe another season of 'SYTYCD' has come again, but at least it was epic!”
