Deval Patrick: Logan Airport 9/11 Fire Drill Was 'Just Dumb'

Dem Gov Criticizes Airport's Controversial Move: 'It's Just Dumb'

Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick (D) spoke out Wednesday about a 9/11 fire drill at Logan International Airport that went awry, calling the decision "just dumb."

Officials apologized earlier in the day for holding the drill-- which included smoke and flames -- on the 12th anniversary of the terrorist attacks. Logan Airport was the departure site for the two hijacked airplanes that crashed into the World Trade Center in 2001.

“I didn’t know it was going to happen," Patrick said of the drill, according to the Boston Herald. "It’s just dumb. The timing could not be worse.”

At 9:20 a.m. ET Wednesday morning, Boston Logan International Airport's Facebook page announced that it was holding the fire department training event.

By 12:30 p.m. ET, the full apology from Massport:
