Daycare Drug Bust In Bronx Uncovers Narcotics, Loaded Gun

Drug Ring Uncovered Inside Bronx Daycare

A couple was arrested Wednesday on multiple drug charges, after officials say a large stash of narcotics was found in a Bronx daycare center they operated.

ABC reports Johanna Vasquez and Gregorio Hanley ran the Fun World Childcare from their home in the Bronx, where a "kilogram of cocaine, 150 grams of crack-cocaine, more than 1,000 oxycodone pills, a loaded gun and $180,000" were uncovered.

William Ferrer, who allegedly bought drugs from the couple, was also arrested.

Some of the cocaine was even found hiding inside a children's lunch bag.

Authorities say 15 children attended the daycare facility.

“The scope of the trafficking operation makes it all the more horrifying that it used as cover a fully operational day care center,” said Special Narcotics Prosecutor Bridget Brennan.

When parents arrived Thursday to drop off their children, they found a message taped to the center's door reading:

“A family emergency occurred very late last night and I was unable to message you. Fun World will be closed today. I’m very sorry for the inconvenience.”
