NBC's 'Ironside' Reboot: 'This Is Not Your Mama's Ironside' (VIDEO)

This Is Not Your Mama's 'Ironside'

"This is not your mama's 'Ironside.'" NBC, please just go ahead and put that on a poster.

NBC's reboot of "Ironside" (premieres Wed., Oct. 2 at 10 p.m. ET on NBC), the classic '60s and '70s Raymond Burr series -- which garnered Burr several Emmy and Golden Globe nominations -- stars Blair Underwood as Robert T. Ironside, the tough-talking, tattooed action hero/police detective who also happens to be in a wheelchair.

HuffPost TV caught up with Underwood and his costars, Brent Sexton, Pablo Schreiber, Spencer Grammer, Neal Bledsoe and Kenneth Choi, to talk about the reboot and what makes this show different from all the other cop dramas out there -- check out our video interview above.

"It's so different," Underwood said of taking on the iconic role. "It's a different time, it's all different characters. We, of course, took the branded, iconic name of Robert. T. Ironside -- he is a detective, he is in a wheelchair, but aside from that, everything else is kind of reimagined and rebooted."

"These are humans put in a position where they're expected to be superhuman, where the boundaries are very black and white. Right and wrong, good and evil, cops can't break the law," Sexton said. "That, to me, is what's interesting because, as you get out and are trying to meet crime head-on, you're going to be pushed up against those boundaries and that's where the grey happens."

"Procedurals tend to highlight the process of solving a crime, where we're trying to highlight the effects that the crime has on the victims, the suspects and the detectives themselves," Choi said.

"Ironside" premieres Wed., Oct. 2 at 10 p.m. ET on NBC.
