Ben Affleck On Batman Backlash: 'I Handle Sh-t'

Internet commenters were irate when Warner Bros. announced that Ben Affleck would play Batman in the upcoming "Man of Steel" sequel, but their collective vitriol was far from a surprise to Affleck himself. The new Caped Crusader dropped by "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" on Monday and said the studio had prepared him for the huge backlash that was forthcoming.

"They said, 'Just don’t use the Internet for a couple of days,'" Affleck recalled. "And I said ... 'I handle shit!'" Not that Affleck wasn't curious to see what the response was when the news was made official. "I saw the announcement, I look down the thing. The first comment? ... 'Nooooooooooooo.'"

Fortunately for Affleck, the internet haters moved on to another possible "Man of Steel 2" casting choice: Justin Bieber as Robin. The singer posted a photo to Instagram on Friday which showed him holding what appeared to be the film's script. As TheWrap reported, however, Bieber's photo was nothing more than a hoax.

"Man of Steel 2," which will star Affleck as Batman and Henry Cavill as Superman, is set for release on July 17, 2015.
