Glenn Beck: Impeach Obama, John McCain

Glenn Beck railed against President Barack Obama and Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) on Tuesday for their stance on arming rebels in Syria.

One day earlier, the White House announced that it was waiving rules tied to the Arms Export Control Act, allowing the transport of gas masks and "non-lethal" protective equipment against chemical weapons. National Security Council Spokesperson Caitlin Hayden told the Hill that the decision was part of "longstanding and ongoing efforts" to assist Syrians in need.

Beck saw otherwise, using his Tuesday show on TheBlaze Network to voice discontent over the handling of the situation.

"I personally am calling to impeach the President of the United States," he said. "This is impeachable. He is arming known terrorists, and people like John McCain should be impeached as well."

Back in May, McCain pressed for the rebels to receive weapons that were of a heavy nature. He made an unannounced visit to Syria, noting to the AP in a phone interview that they "just can't fight tanks with AK-47s."

"I'm confident that they could get the weapons into the right hands and there's no doubt that they need some kind of capability to reverse the battlefield situation, which right now is in favor of Assad," McCain said.

By mid-June, Obama made his first authorization to send weapons to the Syrian rebels. Up to that point, the U.S. had been providing rations and medical supplies, the AP reported.
