Chicago police have reportedly arrested two men in connection with the Sept. 19 mass shooting in Cornell Square Park on the city's South Side that left 13 people injured.

The 22-year-old men were arrested around 7:30 p.m. Sunday in an abandoned building in the 5200 block of South Marshfield Avenue just blocks from the scene of the shooting police said according to Tribune reports.

Citing the police report, the Tribune says one of the men arrested was identified as the shooter while the second "participated in the shooting."

Amid the police's search for the shooters, 25 more people were shot over the weekend -- at least four of them fatally. Amid the bloody weekend, Mayor Rahm Emanuel took a ride-along with the city's top cop, Supt. Garry McCarthy, to get a first-hand look at crime-fighting efforts around the city.
