News Corp's Staggering Phone Hacking Bills

News Corp has paid $382 million in legal fees over phone hacking in the last two years.

The company released its annual report over the weekend, and disclosed that its legal and other professional fees related to proceedings related to News International totaled $183 million from June 2012 to June 2013. Before that, the cost from June 2011 to June 2012 was $199 million.

News Corp has made multi-million dollar payouts to phone hacking victims, including Jude Law who received roughly $200,000 in one of the first settlements.

Meanwhile, the company continues to be the subject of police investigations into phone hacking and bribery of public officials. Murdoch was recently asked to answer more questions before a Parliamentary committee, but his appearance was postponed to possibly next year.
