Ronald Reagan Statue Vandalized At Sports Park In California

Reagan Statue Vandalized

A statue of former President Ronald Reagan in California was reportedly vandalized over the weekend.

The statue, located at the Friends of Ronald Reagan Sports Park in Temecula, was apparently set on fire on Sept. 20, according to the Press-Enterprise. The New York Daily News reports the statue, depicting the former president holding a shovel in one hand and a cowboy hat in the other, was blackened by the fire.

Perry Peters -- founder of the nonprofit Friends of Ronald Reagan Sports Park, which donated the statue -- told the Press-Enterprise the suspected arson is "an insult to the president as well as to the community."

The park's website is accepting donations to help "complete and restore the monument."
