Obama Compliments Dante De Blasio's Afro (PHOTOS)

Dante de Blasio's afro continues to be a supporting character in his dad's run for mayor. President Barack Obama complimented the 16-year-old's healthy head of hair Tuesday at a Democratic fundraiser at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel, which Dante attended with his father.

After referring to Bill de Blasio as "the next mayor of New York," Obama said Dante had "the same hairdo I had back in 1978."

"Although I have to confess, my afro was never that good," the President added, according to a pool reporter. "It was a little unbalanced."

Dante's iconic 'do gained attention when he starred in a game-changing campaign ad for his father in August. The success of this ad coincided with de Blasio's rise from fourth to first place in the Democratic primary.

Obama formally endorsed de Blasio on Monday.

"We could not be prouder of the campaign Bill ran, the way he gave voice to the values that make us Democrats," Obama said at the fundraiser Tuesday, which he attended after a day at the U.N. "We are confident he is going to continue to move New York in a direction where everybody has a chance to get ahead."
