'Before' And 'After' Makeup Photos Spark Debate On Reddit

As most women know, makeup is a powerful tool for transformation. But is that a good thing or a bad thing?

A set of stark "before" and "after" makeup photos posted on Reddit today have brought the question up for debate. Redditor water_anus posted two side-by-side photos of a woman, the one of the left showing her seemingly without makeup and what appears to be the same woman with heavily-done makeup and hair on the right. The caption: "Make-up. That's it."

The cryptic captioning has opened up a debate amongst Reddit users, ranging from criticisms of the woman's unsmiling face and praise for the masterful makeup skills clearly in display to discussion over the merit of women wearing makeup at all. One commenter wrote, "This post shows to not trust one's looks," but several other commenters pointed out that most women wear makeup, just more subtly applied -- it's become expected.

As one commenter put it, "Gotta love the anti-makeup circle jerk. Someone finds a way to look on the outside how they feel on the inside and everyone wants to shit on it. Some people can't just work out and eat right to be prettier and no matter what lie you want to tell yourself; looks still matter."

Check out the photos and peruse the thread if you dare. What do you think of this drastic "before" and "after"?
