5-Year-Old Kicked Off School Bus And Left With Stranger After Getting Sick, Mom Says

The Disturbing Reason This 5-Year-Old Was Kicked Off Her School Bus

A Florida mother is upset after she says her 5-year-old daughter was kicked off a school bus upon getting sick this week.

Erika Herrera says her daughter, Lena Guzzo-Aguilar, had just boarded the bus when she began to feel sick and throw up. According to Lena’s account of the incident, the driver immediately told her to get off the bus and left her by the roadside with a stranger, local outlet WKMG-TV reports.

An Orange County Public School representative told the station that bus drivers are required to call dispatch when a child becomes ill but should drive to school so that the he or she can be picked up. However, it's unclear if dispatch was ever contacted, WKMG-TV reports. Instead, the bus driver says the child asked to be let off the bus.

Luckily, the woman present walked Lena home. However, that does not ameliorate Herrera’s anger.

"What happens if she wasn't a nice lady and if no parent was there and she got scared?" Herrera told local outlet WFTV. "He just saw some lady, didn't ask questions or show concern."

Since the incident, the bus driver -– who has only been with the district for several months -- has been reassigned to bus monitor duty. Still Herrera thinks he should not work with kids, the outlet reports. From now on, Herrera says she will be driving both of her daughters to school.

Earlier this year, parents in Florida's Broward County were upset after a bus driver dropped off their children in the wrong city.

“I’m totally frustrated, mad, angry. And I just can’t believe a person would just drop a child off in the street basically to just fend for yourself,” parent Wilson Cisneros told NBC in August.
