Of Montreal's 'Fugitive Air' Video Goes All In On Throwback, Lo-Fi Vibe

Posted: Updated:

Of Montreal just released their critically lauded twelfth studio album "Lousy With Sylvianbriar" on Tuesday, and they're now exclusively premiering the first music video off the album on HuffPost Entertainment.

The video for "Fugitive Air" is an occasionally NSFW, always low-fi vision of life as told through the would-be Instagram filters of a time past. "We shot this video in Miami and Isla Mujeres Mexico, it was inspired by the films of Almodovar and Bunuel. We wanted the video to feel like a frenetic road trip, unhinged by debauched influences."

The track itself drips with raw, late '60s, early '70s psychedelic influences, so much so that listeners will be unsurprised to learn that engineer Drew Vandenberg (Deerhunter, Toro Y Moi) recorded the project on a 24-track tape machine. The band didn't have much to fall back on -- no digital audio manipulation to smooth out the music, which was recorded live with the entire band in the one room.

Take a look below, but be warned that a penis does make its way into the frame at a few points throughout the video. of Montreal's album is available for purchase in iTunes.
