PolitiFact Launching PunditFact To Check Television Claims

Posted: Updated:

TRUE: Rachel Maddow will hate this.

We're talking about PunditFact, a new website being launched by PolitiFact that will fact-check hosts, contributors and guests of television news shows. PolitiFact, which is part of the Tampa Bay Times, made the announcement on Thursday.

The new site is being funded by $625,000 in grants. And if her relationship with PolitiFact is any indication, Maddow is going to hate it.

The MSNBC host has been outraged at PolitiFact over its ratings numerous times in the past, once saying that it is "truly terrible" and that someone should "sue" it.

Here are some of her other choice words for the site:

"You are not dead, but every time your trademarked Truth-o-Meter points at something, something dies in this country. Go away, Politifact."

"You are a disaster."

"PolitiFact, you are fired. You are a mess! You are fired!"

Now, the spawn of her arch-nemesis will be scrutinizing her show every weekday night. We're sure Maddow is thrilled.
