Christopher Shoji, Chicago Man, Allegedly Fatally Stabbed Best Friend Over Marijuana Plant

A 25-year-old Chicago man has been charged with murder in the fatal stabbing of a man who was reportedly his best friend.

And it was all, allegedly, over a marijuana plant.

Christopher Shoji was arguing with 24-year-old Solomon Morales about the plant at a friend's house prior to Morales being found by relatives about 4:10 a.m. Tuesday in the 4200 block of North Damen Avenue, DNAinfo Chicago reported.

According to the Associated Press, Morales was pronounced dead at Illinois Masonic Medical Center about two hours after he was found.

Shoji has been charged with first-degree murder and misdemeanor cannabis production and ordered held without bail, the Chicago Tribune reports. He was was found by police clutching his pot plant in a friend's closet.

Archimides Morales, the victim's older brother, told the Chicago Sun-Times the two were best friends.

"We always had him at our house for dinner and to drink ... I gave Chris the clothes off my back. It pisses me off that this how he repays us. He was family," the brother told the paper.
