Country Living Magazine Moving To Alabama With New Editor-In-Chief, Rachel Hardage Barrett

HUGE News For Country Living Magazine

When we woke up this morning, we thought it was going to be just another Monday, but it turns out, we were so, so wrong.

Hearst Magazines has announced today that Sarah Gray Miller, editor-in-chief of Country Living, will be leaving the magazine. Rachel Hardage Barrett of Southern Living will be taking over the position. As if that wasn't enough to knock us off our swivel chairs, the company also said that the editorial operations will relocate to Birmingham, Alabama, where Southern Living currently operates.

Miller has been with Country Living for five years. Barrett's resume also includes a seven-year stint at Real Simple and three years at Glamour. “I made the move from New York to Birmingham nearly three years ago, and bringing the brand to this friendly, vibrant city, which is filled with creative people, makes so much sense," Barrett said in a release. "Country Living will always cover unique products, approachable recipes, and inspiring-yet-relatable interiors from around the country, and this brings us closer to new artisans, chefs and designers who will further enrich the magazine's unique point-of-view."

We really hope that's the case -- we would hate to see Country Living lose the edge and perspective it has on lifestyle content. We'll be waiting with bated breath for Barrett's first issue.
