'Arrow': Oliver Finds Himself In Quite A Jam Thanks To Laurel

Oliver Queen was determined to convince Laurel that his vigilante side could be trusted on "Arrow." So much so that he ignored her very clear and direct warning to never talk to her again. After taking down the week's bad guys, Oliver dropped by her office again to try and plead his case.

Laurel was still bitter over Tommy's death in the Glades, where she saw the hooded vigilante slipping away. "I lost a friend that day, too. And I would gladly have given my life for his," Oliver told her, but his plea to her humanity fell on deaf ears.

“Don’t worry. Your life is over," Laurel said signaling the SWAT team she had on standby. "“Your life as a free man.”

And so the hour ended with Oliver, as the vigilante, surrounded by an enormous SWAT team in the cramped confines of Laurel's office. Entertainment Weekly's Samanthan Highfill wrote, "Oh snap," while Collider's Dave Trumbore figures that Laurel was probably the last person Oliver would have expected to become his enemy.

The dramatic cliffhanger certainly convinced Alasdair Wilkins of The AV Club to come back next week. "Let’s just admire the fact that 'Arrow' has already thrown Oliver into Laurel’s seemingly inescapable trap after just two episodes," he wrote. "The show appears to have learned from fellow CW shows like 'The Vampire Diaries' in the art of burning through plot at the fastest possible rate. That means that, even if 'Arrow' doesn’t succeed, it’s unlikely to be boring."

The new season of "Arrow" continues on Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
