V-Tex Rapidcool Chiller Is Basically A Reverse Microwave (VIDEO)

Goodbye ambitions to own a wine fridge!

We've all brought a room temperature six-pack to a party before, and wished it had been cold. If V-Tex gets its way, that will never happen again. The UK-based company has invented a line of "Rapidcool" devices, from a large-scale vending machine-like commercial version, to a table-top home edition called Enviro-cool. V-Tex uses their rapid cooling technology to bring room temperature bottles and cans to 41 degrees Fahrenheit in 45 seconds. Their home-use prototype also has settings for other temperatures, if you want to chill a wine to a different temperature.

Yes, what we're saying is that someone has basically invented a reverse microwave. Think of the wine chilling tub in your local liquor store, only compact and way faster. This technology could potentially cut down even on commercial refrigeration needs, meaning that retail stores could stock drinks at room temperature only and the customer could cool them on demand. Imagine the influence that might have on the energy consumptions of grocery stores. For now, this product is still just a concept, but let's all keep our fingers crossed that these start rolling out into our homes soon enough. Goodbye, ambitions to one day own a wine fridge!
