Westgate Attack Video Released By CNN Shows Shocking Images Of Assault On Mall In Kenya

CNN released new surveillance-camera footage from inside Kenya's Westgate Mall, taken during an invasion by armed terrorists last month.

Parts of the footage shows four attackers carrying semi-automatic weapons into the shopping area and killing several shoppers. Other sections show fleeing shoppers and a mother pushing along a cart with a wounded child, followed by an armed terrorist.

CNN's Nawal Bagir reported that the footage was shot on the first day of the siege. She added that while the network possesses many more hours of video, much of it is too horrifying to broadcast.

At least 67 people were killed during the four-day long siege at the upscale Nairobi mall last September. The Somali militant group al-Shabab claimed responsibility, justifying the attack as retaliation for Kenya's invasion of Somalia in 2011.
