Jennie Garth Says Dating After Divorce Is 'A Weird Type Of Torture'

Jennie Garth Talks Dating After Divorce

It's been over a year since Jennie Garth and ex-husband Peter Facinelli called it quits, but Garth is still adjusting to her new life as a single mom.

The actress, 41, opens up to Bethenny Frankel in an interview airing today (Oct. 21), revealing that raising her three daughters while dating again is "super challenging."

"I expected to come out of it and just be great at it," Garth tells Frankel of balancing it all. "I'm smart and I thought I could do it. How hard could it be? I've realized I have to fumble my way and create the space to really be open to learning because I don't know how to do it."

Garth goes on to explain that dating after divorce, "is fun and awful all at the same time," and that it's not as exciting as people may think.

"It's like a weird type of torture, but it can be fun," she says, revealing that she pursues men who give her "that" feeling. "For me, I look for somebody who shares an energy ... there's just that connection, that energy that I need to have. It doesn't matter what the person looks like or what they really do," she adds, "there's got to be that, first and foremost, you know? That zing."

Garth was married to Facinelli for 11 years before they separated in March 2012. She is currently dating Michael Shimbo, the CEO of the San Francisco-based company Trains, Planes and Automobiles.
