Janelle Monae Gives Solid Advice To High School Students During Chicago Tour Stop (PHOTOS)

Before Janelle Monae enchanted the sold-out crowd at The Vic Monday night, the R&B/soul stunner stopped by a Chicago high school to dish out some sage life advice.

“Find people who help keep you balanced and give you guidance and advice," Monae told students at Westinghouse College Prep in East Garfield Park. "Have a support system, because life’s not always going to be what you want or expect.”

According to social media updates from Chicago Public Schools, several Westinghouse students interviewed Monae and performed for the star. From the sound of it, she was impressed:

As for Monae's two-hour performance, the Tribune's Greg Kot wrote the singer had "taken a capacity crowd for a heck of a ride" with stunning visuals and high energy.
