George W. Bush Donates To Lindsey Graham's Reelection Campaign

Bush Wades Into Senate Race

Former President George W. Bush has donated $5,000 to Sen. Lindsey Graham's (R-S.C.) reelection campaign, The State reported Thursday.

The contribution was reported in an October 15 campaign finance filing by Graham's campaign.

“I am extremely grateful and honored to have President George W. Bush’s support," Graham said in a statement. "With every passing day, Americans appreciate more and more President Bush’s clarity on the War on Terror and his strong support of the private sector."

Graham, who has served in the Senate since 2003, is up for reelection next fall. The Republican has picked up several primary challengers, including businesswoman Nancy Mace and state Senator Lee Bright.

Since leaving the White House in 2009, Bush has largely stayed out of the political spotlight. However, he has donated to several Texas Republicans' campaigns, including state attorney general candidate Dan Branch earlier this year.
