What Do You Get When You Marry A Stylist? Your Dream Home, Of Course (PHOTOS)

This Is What Happens When You Marry A Stylist

Everyone thinks their home is pretty much perfect. That is until you have a designer walk through and quickly realize your art is hung too high, the paint colors are all wrong and there really isn't a flow to your space at all.

This is exactly what happened to Guy Chancey, who until he married a stylist, Susan, had no idea his ideal home wasn't so, well, ideal. Featured in Country Living's November issue, the Chancey's are showing off their now-lovely space and sharing tips and tricks to make any home charming.

Their number one rule is to realize that there are a lot of different ways to add contrast to a room -- bold colors aren't your only option. In this couple's case, they used textured furniture and accents to make their living room diverse yet calming.

Another tip? If you are going to use color, go big or go home. "Our contractor stared at me with giant golf-ball eyes when I told him I wanted the bedroom walls and ceiling done in one color," Mrs. Chancey said. Of course, she was right. The dark shade elongates the space.
