Ricky Gervais Asks the Twitterverse To Share Their Elders' Wisdom

Grandparents Text The Darndest Things!

Funnyman Ricky Gervais is known for his outrageous, hilarious, and sometimes inappropriate Twitter antics. He says the Internet is his playground and Twitter, in particular, is for "mucking about for the hell of it."

But this month, instead of his usual Twitter activities, i.e., warring with the religions of the world, mocking celebrities that #prayforoklahoma, Gervais asked an interesting question of his followers.

It's not his typical Twitter fodder, but Gervais is promoting his new TV show, "Derek," in which he stars as an overly enthusiastic retirement home employee.

The replies are sweet, endearing, and sometimes cynical. But they're all no-nonsense.

Ricky himself was so surprised with the outpouring of advice and funnies, he said #textswithgran may be his best Twitter game ever.
