D.C.'s 2013 High Heel Race Was A Heel Of A Good Time

Check Out D.C.'s Annual High Heel Race!

For the 27th year going, D.C.'s annual High Heel Race was a whole lot of fun.

Tuesday night, D.C. turned out to watch folks in impressive shoes sprint down 17th Street.

D.C. Mayor Vincent Gray got the race started. "Miley Cyrus" and "Paula Deen" were in attendance. William Dennis, a/k/a Inertia Dolce, won for the second year running, so to speak.

David Perruzza, general manager of JR's Bar & Grill, told WAMU that organizing the event every year is a "huge hassle," but one that's worthwhile.

"It's an event that the community loves. Straight, gay, no matter what. People bring their kids, and it's just an amazing event that doesn't cause any problems. It brings D.C. together," he told the station.

Thanks to those who pointed out that the race was Tuesday night, not Wednesday, as the story originally said. Been a long week, eh?
