Norman Pearlstine Steps Down
UNITED STATES - JUNE 27: Norman Pearlstine, former editor in chief of Time Inc., speaks during an interview in New York, on June 27, 2007. Norman Pearlstine is a New York media and social lion if there ever was one. In ``Off the Record: The Press, the Government and the War Over Anonymous Sources,'' he takes on media and social lions as big as he is, including superlawyer Floyd Abrams and Arthur O. FORTUNE -- Media executive Norman Pearlstine is stepping down as Bloomberg LP's chief content officer, in order to take a similar position with Time Inc. (publisher of Fortune). The move comes as Time Inc. is preparing to spin out from corporate parent Time Warner (TWX), which is expected to occur early next year.
This is a homecoming of sorts for Pearlstine, who served as editor-in-chief of Time Inc. from 1995 through 2005 (after more than two decades with The Wall Street Journal, and a short stint running Forbes). He later moved on to serve as a senior advisor to private equity firm The Carlyle Group (CG), before joining Bloomberg in 2008.
