Psychiatrist Dr. Gail Saltz says that procrastination is a very common problem. Sometimes it's actually a fear of failing that keeps you from getting started on a new project or idea. It's important to identify where that feeling comes from -- maybe it's because of past events in your life, such as high expectations of family members who have been disappointed in you. Conversely, another thing that could be keeping you from starting something new could be the fear of success -- how will your life change if you actually achieve your goal?
One other common contributor of procrastination is being too overwhelmed with your new idea to get started. If you have an idea, make a plan and write it down, Take it week by week, and understand that most of the things that you want to accomplish to take time.
