'Arrow': Black Canary Forced To Reveal Her Identity

While Sara Lance was reluctant to reveal her presence in Starling City to her family on "Arrow" -- a decision Oliver disagreed with, but respected -- the choice was taken out of her hands this week. The League of Assassins has targeted her because she left their ranks. When their attack threatened her family, she had no choice but to reveal herself to her father.

The reveal worked, because she teamed up with the Arrow and the former Detective Lance to take down the league's assassins. Of course, the larger threat of Ra's al Ghul looms, so Sara sent one surviving assassin back with a warning: "Tell Ra’s al Ghul that my family is off limits. His quarrel is with me.”

Sara was convinced that Quentin would reject her for the killer she'd become, but her father instead said he was proud of her. But then she put the burden of her secret on her father, making him promise not to tell her sister, Laurel, that she's actually alive.

“Once again, Quentin had to lose his daughter, which was hard enough without the fact that ‘everyone leaves me’ Laurel was all he had left," wrote Entertainment Weekly's Samantha Highfill. But Collider's Dave Trumbore warned that crying over Sara's departure may be premature. "It’s a safe bet that Canary went off to search out Ra’s al Ghul and see just what’s so important about her returning to his side," he wrote. "You can bet that we’ll see her again, and probably the leader of the League of Assassins as well.”

"Arrow" continues on Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
