Rising Pop Star Jamia Simone Nash Covers Avicii's 'Wake Me Up'

The Next Lorde?

While you may not recognize the name Jamia Simone Nash, there is a very good chance you've seen her face and heard her beautiful voice.

In that magical, musical tale "August Rush," there was that adorable little girl named Hope who teaches August how to read music, and has a solo in the song, "Raise It Up." That track was nominated for Best Original Song at the 80th Academy Awards, and that little girl, at the age of 11, became the youngest person to perform on the Oscar stage.

That's Jamia Nash.

Now 17 years old, Nash is still singing, and she has all the tools necessary to become the next young voice to take the pop world by storm, in the same fashion as Lorde.

A week ago, Nash released a funky rendition of Avicii's hit "Wake Me Up," accompanied by the acoustic hand of Grammy-nominated producer and guitar player Dru Decaro. Effortlessly scaling through her immense range, Nash provides a smoother reinterpretation for those not in favor of EDM.

Keep your eyes and ears peeled for Nash's next moves, and refresh your memory by watching her Oscar night performance below.
