Sinead O'Connor: Why I Wrote The Miley Letters

Sinead O'Connor doesn't regret her public spat with Miley Cyrus, she told Time.

"I think what was more important really that came out of the Miley thing was this issue of being able to conversate about how mental health and human rights is now," she said. "I think she was actually very helpful. I think the two of us, without meaning to, did quite a good job in terms of creating conversation about something really, really important."

If you're just catching up, O'Connor posted on her website several open letters to the 'Wrecking Ball' singer. In them, she begged the pop star to not "let the music business make a prostitute of you" by wearing sexy clothing or dancing provocatively.

"The music business doesn't give a shit about you, or any of us," the 'Nothing Compares 2 U' singer had said.

Cyrus responded to the letters by mocking O'Connor's struggles with mental illness.

O'Connor doubled down on her criticism of the music industry in her interview with Time.

"The music business is corrupt, a spiritually corrupt arena," she said. "It’s full of nothing but vampires and pimps, honestly. You couldn’t understand it unless you were in it. The only way to survive it is to love music."
