Central Park Rape Suspect Seen In Security Video

NYPD Seek Rape Suspect In Central Park Case

Police are seeking the man who allegedly raped a 28-year-old woman in Central Park early Sunday morning.

The NYPD released a security video of the suspect walking near the park with the victim prior to the alleged assault and then walking alone while looking over his shoulder afterwards.

ABC reports the victim walked with the suspect along 88th Street near Fifth Avenue before they entered the east side of the park together near 100th Street, around 3:30 a.m. on Sunday, and sat on a bench.

Things turned violent and the suspect pulled the victim onto the grass and raped her. The victim was able to get away and she ran to Mount Sinai Hospital. The suspect took off in the opposite direction.

It is unknown as to whether the victim and suspect knew each other, but according to police, he told the victim that his name was Omar.

The suspect is described as a black male in his 30s, between 5-foot-6 and 5-foot-9 inches in height. He was wearing a red hat, black leather jacket, and jeans at the time of the assault.
