A Colorado family is in shock after a father took a picture of his 1-year-old baby daughter, posted it on Facebook, and then allegedly shot and killed her and shot himself.

The 22-year-old father and suspected shooter, Merrick McKoy, allegedly shot his daughter after a domestic dispute with the child's 21-year-old mother, Kimphone "Kim" Phanthavongsa, around 9:30 a.m. on Monday in the Denver suburb of Westminster, The Denver Post reports.

A Facebook page allegedly belonging to McKoy, which has since been deactivated, showed a photo of McKoy and his daughter just before the shooting. The photo was followed by two other cryptic posts, reading: "Don't judge me had no choice" and "I told u I can't live without u lol u thought I was joking now me n Mia out this b--- [sic]", according to screenshots of the Facebook page obtained by New York Daily News.

Police said that the young girl, identified as Mia McKoy-Phanthavongsa by KDVR, died of the injuries. McKoy, who shot himself an undisclosed amount of times, was taken to an area hospital, but his condition is unknown.

According to 9News, Phantavongsa woke up Monday morning to McKoy standing over her with a gun. When the police arrived, they heard a gunshot from inside the apartment and upon entering they found the child and McKoy.

Police told 7News that Phanthavongsa had an active restraining order against McKoy which prohibited him from being in the apartment.
