Terminally Ill Teenager Marries High School Sweetheart In Dream Wedding

Eighteen-year-old Leslie Rivera was diagnosed with leukemia in April, and her condition is terminal. So when the Make-A-Wish foundation stepped in to make one of her life-long dreams come true, there was only one thing the teenager wanted: to marry her high school sweetheart.

Rivera met Daniel Mendez in October 2012 at an anti-racism club at school and the two immediately hit it off. But within a few short months, Rivera was diagnosed with the terminal disease and Mendez was a constant presence by her side.

Rivera was referred to Make-A-Wish and the foundation quickly got to work arranging the nuptials, even getting celebrity wedding planner David Tutera on board.

The ceremony took place on November 21 in Orange County, CA. Rivera was all smiles during the "Twilight"-inspired reception, surrounded by friends and family. It was impossible to tell that the beaming teenager had spent the entire day before in the hospital getting a blood transfusion, the Daily Mail reported.
