Consumer advocate Erin Brockovich joined me on Mondays with Marlo to talk about the challenges that girls face growing up, especially when it comes to self-esteem.
According to Erin, the biggest problem for all young girls occurs when their sense of self-esteem slides through the crack. If a child with a learning disability, for example, is categorized or put into a box, their sense of self-esteem could be damaged.
Erin believes that it is the job of parents and teachers to help build up kid's self-esteem and sense of self-confidence. "We get this idea that somebody is a leader, but every one of us is a leader!" said Erin.
Her final piece of advice to be a strong leader is to help lift up a child who you think has fallen through the cracks or lost their sense of self-esteem instead of being a bystander.
