Whether he's trying to break into the cookie jar or form a pint-sized rave at 3:00 a.m., you never can be sure what a toddler will do next.
In the new music video for “So Right,” a smooth electronic track from Brooklyn-based band The Mast, an adorable little boy sneaks out of his crib and breaks out the beats to form a technicolored dance party just for tots. The whole thing makes us wonder if this kid's ever had baby DJ lessons.
Directed and edited by singer Haleh Gafori and shot by beatsmith Matt Kilmer -- the married couple who make up The Mast -- the video stars Haleh's 22-month-old nephew, Kian, and his group of friends.
Filming a group of rambunctious kids bouncing up and down to electronic music seems like it would be a challenge, but the duo found an inventive way to keep the kids focused.
“In reality, the kids were complete chaos, and we had no control over them at all. They were directing," Gafori told The Huffington Post over the phone. "We made everything into a game and a party. We filmed with Kian for five days, but just 10-15 minutes a day, which is all he would probably want to do. And then my sister threw his friends a party."
"So Right" is off The Mast's upcoming LP, "Pleasure Island," due out Jan. 28. Kilmer, who is also the music coordinator for Louis C.K.'s FX series, "Louie," says the band is influenced by a myriad of electronic performers and, in the new LP, touches on a wide range of topics including love and even hydraulic fracking.
“[The album] is definitely a journey," Gafori added. "Part of it is all about constructing a 'pleasure island,' and I think kids exemplify that, because they feel that joy."
When asked if working closely with so many children influenced their thoughts on their own future, the couple told HuffPost that the experience actually made them think they don't want kids, at least not for now.
“It’s great to be an uncle, but right now we’re focusing on our music," said Kilmer. "We feel that our songs are our babies."
