Michigan Two-Point Conversion Fails Late In Loss To Ohio State (VIDEO/GIF/POLL)

WATCH: Michigan's Gamble Backfires Against Ohio State

Michigan played to win the game -- in regulation.

Brady Hoke's team didn't pull off the upset but it did ensure that the 109th edition of "The Game" won't be forgotten any time soon. After a touchdown in the final minute of the fourth quarter pulled the unranked Wolverines within a single point of the No. 3 Buckeyes, 42-41, Michigan's coach elected to go for a two-point conversion rather than a game-tying extra point. Michigan quarterback Devin Gardner attempted a pass for Drew Dileo that was intercepted by the Buckeyes’ Tyvis Powell to preserve the slim lead with 32 seconds remaining in the regulation.

After the interception, Gardner's mix of exasperation and exhaustion likely summed up the feeling of the Michigan fans filling the Big House.

Ohio State would recover the ensuing onside kick attempt and hold on for a thrilling 42-41 victory -- in regulation.
